Welcome to Jo-Dolphin Swartland Association for Persons with Disabilities (APD)
Situated in the heart of Malmesbury, Western Cape – a town with a rich history dating back to 1743 – Jo-Dolphin Swartland APD is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and supportive community for individuals with disabilities. Building on the town’s strong agricultural heritage and community spirit, we provide vital disability support services, including skills training, community engagement, and advocacy.
Jo-Dolphin Swartland APD was established in 2006 by two dedicated parents who saw a critical need for a safe and supportive environment for their children with disabilities. What began as a small home-based initiative quickly grew, caring for six children with multiple disabilities. As demand increased, the project expanded, and in 2007, Jo-Dolphin was officially registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). This milestone opened doors to formal support and funding opportunities, enabling us to relocate to more suitable facilities and increase our capacity to serve the community. By 2010, we had amended our constitution and aligned with the Western Cape Association for Persons with Disabilities (WCAPD). On September 9, 2011, Jo-Dolphin Swartland APD was officially accepted as a branch of WCAPD.
